Samyang XP 14mm f2.4 Review | Dubai, UAE

Samyang is one of the lens manufacturers that offers affordable lenses with top notch quality.   I have personally owned 3 Samyang lenses and I never regret it, in fact I recommend them.  So far, they have never let me down.  The Samyang 14mm is an ultra wide angle lens, if you haven’t tried an such focal length, it can be overwhelming to use.  This super wide angle can easily introduce distortions, but once you get the hang of it, you […]

365 Project : Day 185

This kind of light happens right after the sunset; the sky will have blue and orange mixed and it creates this wonderful color of light.  The sky last like this for only 5 minutes and after that, its gone. Gear: Canon 450D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 10 secs | ISO 100 Post processing: Combined 3 exposures using DRI Dodging and burning Curves adjustment for dynamic range Color balance adjustments for the road and railings to correct white balance […]

365 Projec : Day 183

This was taken on the way to Hatta Pools (although we never reached there).  This is outskirts of the desert, really dry and full of twigs.  I found this cut tree and I thought it convey something interesting.  Anyway, I took 3 shots and this was the one I like best. Gear: Canon 450D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/15 | ISO 100 Post process: This is a two exposure shot; I blended the -2EV exposure for the sky […]

365 Project : Day 181

This is my friend’s car (Jason’s), I know its not a 4×4 but this is what we use when we went off-roading to Hatta 🙂 Gear: Canon 450D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/40 | ISO 100 Post process: Merged 3 exposure using DRI Adjusted curves settings for the exposure Dodging and burning Cheers! /Mike

365 Project : Day 180

Taken in the Hatta Desert.   This part is quite rocky, I went here with my friend Jason and Nino and find something to shoot.  Again, removing the colors and purely working with mono tones. Gear: Canon 450D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/40 | ISO 100 Post processing: Manually blended 3 exposures using DRI Applied black and white adjustment layer and adjust the sliders Dodging and burning Have a nice day ahead! /Mike

365 Project : Day 179

This was taken in Hatta – Oman Road…  I wanted to experiment with black and white, recently I don’t feel like processing in color.  BTW, I just got myself a new LCD monitor an HP LP3065 30″ Wide color gamut monitor and it is huuuuge!  Probably, my eyes is getting tired too much color in this massive display 🙂 Gear: Canon 450D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/25 | ISO 100 Post processing: 3 exposures combined using DRI Applied […]

365 Project : Day 117

Taken somewhere at the Hatta desert.  It’s sad that a lot of people just don’t care and pollute places like this, leaving their trash behind…  Captured using my point and shoot camera, LX3. Gear:  Lumix LX3 Settings: f2.0 | 1/2000 | ISO 80 Post process: Made the image darker using curves Enhanced the sky to have a dramatic look Dodging and burning Cheers! /Mike

Hatta Road

This was taken from a the road going towards Hatta pools.  Although we didn’t reached the pools since its getting dark and this road doesn’t have any lights.  So we decided to go back before it goes totally pitch dark. How I took this shot: Gears: Canon 450D Sigma 10-20mm + Marumi CPL Post processing: Took 3 shots, bracketed using AEB feature of the camera.  I used 2 stops +/-. Processed it using Adobe Camera raw 5.5 Opened the 3 […]

Hatta – Dam

Hatta is a gateway… it really is. Hatta is around an hour to an hour and a half of travel from Dubai.  It is a known place for people who wants to have off road adventures. Wiki says: Hatta is a town (which includes a reconstructed heritage village by the same name) in the Hatta mountains in the north of the emirate of Dubai, UAE. Hatta is about 115 km (71 mi) east of Dubai City. Because of its altitude, Hatta has […]
