365 Project : Day 228

Taken from Boracay; This is Crystal Cove Island, really nice place to chill and photograph. I really miss this place now… This is the first DRI that I did using my Wacom Intuos 4, it is surprisingly very accurate compared to the previous one I’m using. It took me some time to go into details, but I think its worth it. Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Settings: f7.1 | 1/25 | ISO 100 Post process: Exposure Blending using […]

365 Project : Day 227

I took this shot on my vacation to Philippines.  This is Boracay Island.  It’s a fantastic place to chill and enjoy a nice beach. Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Settings: f8.0 | 1/60 | ISO 100 Post process: DRI’d 3 exposure Curves adjustments Hue and saturation adjustments Dodging and burning Cheers! Mike

365 Project : Day 222

This was shot at Ras Al Khaimah, ghost town. This abandoned village is quite big and you have to make sure you know your way out once it gets dark, because its pitch black in there. Most of the locals are afraid of this place, however I haven’t seen or felt anything supernatural about the place. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: 2 exposures, one for the tower and the other for the sky. Post process: 2 exposures manually […]

365 Project : Day 221

This is one of my shots from Intramuros during my vacation in the Philippines. I know there are some obvious distortions here but I somehow liked it 🙂 Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f9.0 | 1/250 | ISO 100 Post process: 3 exposures DRI’d Curves adjustments Hue and saturation adjustments Cheers! /Mike

365 Project : Day 219

And I’m back with landscapes! This was taken after the portraits sessions. This is the post blue hour when the sun sets and the sky turns magenta for a few minutes. Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Settings: f8.0 | 1/6 | ISO 100 Post process: 3 exposure DRI’d Dodging and burning Blending modes Curves adjustments Have a great weekend guys! /Mike

365 Project : Day 216

The sun went down too fast on the second set and since my other lights were not working, I had to depend on my one light which is a 430exii… Anyway, this particular one was a test shot but I sort of liked it, so I included it in the 2nd set. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f3.2 | 1/50 | ISO 100 Strobist: 430exii + umbrella on camera right @ 1/2 power Trigger: 7D’s […]

365 Project : Day 215

This is probably my last post for set 1;  Set 2 will still be in the same place but a different location.  On this particular shot, I asked the model to walk towards the camera, giving a sense of motion to the shot.  I applied the same ‘cinematic’ post process to complete set 1. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f5.6 | 1/200 | ISO 160 Strobist: 430exii + umbrella on camera top left @ 1/4 […]

365 Project : Day 213

Again, applying the ‘cinematic’ feel on this image.  Some people are asking me if I have a photoshop action for this effect; The answer is No.  I rarely do actions (almost never), I only use actions for saving my images and adding watermarks.  The problem with actions is that they treat images all the same, and the thing is, every image is different and should be treated individually. Gears: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f5.6 | […]

365 Project : Day 212

I wanted this set to look ‘cinematic’; I love watching movies and everytime I go to the theaters, I always look at the posters and try to deconstruct the lighting used and the post processing applied. This is my beginner’s skills take on cinematic 🙂 Gears: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f5.6 | 1/250 | ISO 160 Strobist: 580exii + half closed umbrella on camera top right @ 1/4 power Trigger: 7D’s  built in transmitter Post […]
