365 Project : Day 053

I tried smoke photography tonight… And yes, it’s quite fun.  I was not able to take a lot of shots since my 1 year old niece is hanging around and trying to get my camera 🙂  Anyway, this is something I would want to try again, you can get some amazing results with very minimal efforts. The setup requires a small table lamp, a black background, incense and a speedlite. Gear: Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC Setting: f6.3 | […]

365 Project : Day 049

Today, another set of Indian dancers performed.  Their attention to details and colors when it comes to their clothing are really amazing, quite intricate and very catchy 🙂 Gear: Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC @270mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/400 | ISO 320 Post processing: Applied selective sharpening Applied some blending modes Applied texture to create that artistic ambiance that matches the performers and their culture This week just flew by me… Again, its weekend! Take care everyone! /Mike

365 Project : Day 048

Today, there are some Indian dancers performing near our office building.  Just couldn’t resist to click 🙂  The colors of their outfits need to be captured. As you can see, this is just a casual snap, available light during  its worst time at 1pm, so harsh lights everywhere.  I used spot metering to expose their skin tone properly. Gear:  Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC Settings: f8.0 | 1/500 | ISO 500 @270mm Post process: I did a 16:9 crop […]

365 Project : Day 033

This is my brother’s guitar 🙂  I always wanted to shoot this but I just can’t visualize it, a few minutes ago, the vision came… and it looks a lot like that 🙂 I received a lot of encouraging messages from my flickr acount and here on my blog; I really really appreciate those who dropped by and sent me a message to give out their support, that means a lot to me, I just wanted to thank you all!  […]

Dubai Marina in HDR

This was the same day I took the Dubai Marina picture I posted before.  Taken during sunset. Dubai Marina is a great place to shoot, a lot of interesting subjects and not a lot of security guards that freaks out everytime they see a tripod. Here is how I took this shot: Settings: f6.4 | 1/25 | -3,0,+3 AEB Gears: Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC Post processing: Stacked and aligned from Photomatix Digital blending in Photoshop, resized and watermarked.
