365 Project : Day 248

I was shooting with my photo buddies Eugene and Henz; took this on the way back to the car, the place isn’t really ideal for this kind of shot but great light nonetheless. 365 Project : Day 247

Location like these are probably the last place anyone would like to take pictures of, but for photographers… it’s like paradise 🙂  Or maybe it’s just me… Anyway, this place is always fun to shoot, quiet and peaceful. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 8-16mm Settings: f10 | 1/30 | ISO 100 Post process: 3 Exposures DRI Color balance adjustments Curves adjustments Dodging and burning Cheers! /Mike

365 Project : Day 246

Me and my photo buddies Eugene and Henry went to the Abandoned Village in Ras Al Khaimah. If you are following my blog or flickr, you will know that I have been to this place several times already, the only difference this time is that this was shot during sunrise. Using my ND1000x BW filter to get some motion with the clouds. Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 + BW ND1000x (ND110) Settings: f11 | 30 secs. | ISO 400 […]

365 Project : Day 217

As the sun was setting, I was waiting for clouds but… somehow they went away; they would have been a good background. Anyway, there’s plenty of interesting background in this place. A close up shot this time. Again, using one light and the sun as a mild rim light. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f5.0 | 1/250 | ISO 320 Strobist: 430exii + umbrella on camera right @ 1/2 power Trigger: 7D’s built in transmitter […]

365 Project : Day 216

The sun went down too fast on the second set and since my other lights were not working, I had to depend on my one light which is a 430exii… Anyway, this particular one was a test shot but I sort of liked it, so I included it in the 2nd set. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f3.2 | 1/50 | ISO 100 Strobist: 430exii + umbrella on camera right @ 1/2 power Trigger: 7D’s […]

365 Project : Day 214

A close up shot from the same set. Trying to stick with the cinematic feel for the entire set, a few more pictures from the same set are coming up. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f4.5 | 1/250 | ISO 100 Strobist: 580exii + umbrella on camera right @ 1/4 power Trigger: 7D’s built in transmitter Post process: Levels  and Curves Adjustments Hue and saturation adjustments Applied some blending modes (Overlay) on selected areas Dodging […]

365 Project : Day 213

Again, applying the ‘cinematic’ feel on this image.  Some people are asking me if I have a photoshop action for this effect; The answer is No.  I rarely do actions (almost never), I only use actions for saving my images and adding watermarks.  The problem with actions is that they treat images all the same, and the thing is, every image is different and should be treated individually. Gears: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS HSM Settings: f5.6 | […]

365 Project : Day 210

**I have been working almost all night to get my wordpress running 🙁 had some problems and have to migrate all the contents including the database to a new location 🙁 Anyway… I know it’s been a while since my last post.   Anyway, I’m back 🙂 I went back to the Abandoned Village in Ras Al Khaimah, now that the weather is good and the clouds are back, it’s really an awesome place to shoot.  It is really a ghost […]

365 Project : Day 172

Taken at the beach using my fisheye lens.  I really like this lens, it gives you a whole new different perspective! Gears: Canon 7D + Sigma 10mm f2.8 Settings: f8.0 | 1/20 | ISO 120 Post process: Dodging and burning Curves adjustments to correct exposure Cheers! /Mike

365 Project : Day 163

Another one of those experimental texture blending.  I used 4 kinds of textures here and each was blended differently. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f10 | 1/125 | ISO 100 Post process: Adjusted contrast via Adobe Raw Applied 4 kind of textures using different blending modes Adjusted tonal range using curves Dodging and burning Applied a vignette Cheers! /Mike
