The Power of a Photographer

I saw this video from Canon Australia and was really captivated on the idea of 6 photographers to photograph 1 person — the twist being, he was introduced as a different person to each of the photographers. It is quite outstanding to see how a simple photograph can define someone. Being a photographer, we have the power to create or manipulate, if you will, a character or an archetype of our subjects through our photographs. Here are the different Portrait “interpretations” […]

365 Project : Day 310

365 Project : Day 186

It’s been a long time since my last post, that is because I’m on my annual vacation 🙂 This was taken in front of our house in the Philippines.  On this picture is my brother Richmond.  This is a very impromptu shoot, no planning, no concepts; we just thought of having a fun shoot and went for it.  I didn’t bring any lighting gear with me, this was just a 580exii  speedlite with a white bond paper tied to it […]

365 Project : Day 142

This is my nice Chloe, she’s almost two years old a week from now.  We went to Al Hamra Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, I used my point & shoot Lumix LX3 with underwater casing for this shot.  It’s cool to capture HD videos of underwater too 🙂 Gear:  Lumix LX3 Settings: f2.0 | 1/2000 | ISO 80 Post processing: Adjusted contrast Added vignette Dodging and burning Weekend ends today… 🙁  Looking forward for the next 🙂 /Mike

365 Project : Day 123

My objective here is to make a movie-poster-like image.  I’m just trying out something new here and learning a few tricks along the way.  Being a movie fan myself, I always tend to look closely to movie posters, checking the lighting, processing and hoping one day I’ll try something similar.  I enjoyed doing this effect 😀 Gear: Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC Settings: f8.0 | 1/250 | ISO 160 Strobist: Canon 580exii + shoot through umbrella @ 1/4 power […]

365 Project : Day 071

I’m trying to widen my repertoire of subjects and like everything in photography, lighting is the key.  I’m still learning, I don’t think I’m going to stop learning.  Learning is fun 🙂  Anyway, weekend is upon me 🙂 I couldn’t be happier 😀 Gear:  Canon 7D + EF 100mm f2.8 Settings: f3.2 | 1/200 | ISO 100 Strobist: Canon 580exii + shoot through umbrella @ 1/4 power on camera left (main light) Canon 430exii @ 1/32 power on camera right […]
