This flower is very common back in the Philippines, it is called Gumamela, or Hibiscus in English. Not only it’s very pretty but it is medicinal as well. Gumamela flowers are used as an expectorant in bronchitis, for general coughs, and as a refrigerant drink in fevers just to name a few of its uses. Today, nothing special 🙂 Just a normal CD lying around the house, putting some water drops and a little experimentation with the position of the speedlites. It gives different shades of rainbow colors every time I change the angle of the strobes. You need patience and lots and lots of it. Add a dependable macro lens, a ring flash adapter, a flash gun and most importantly a very cooperative insect model! wheew! that’s the recipe of a successful 1:1 macro shot (at least that’s from my experience).
