365 Project : Day 211

We had a long vacation here in Dubai because of the Eid holidays; Perfect for a fun shoot 🙂 I’m trying to mix landscapes and portraits in this set, which will be featured over the next days. I had 3 lights for this shoot, unfortunately 2 of them didn’t work 🙁 So, I just made the use of what I had at that moment since this place is an hour drive from Dubai. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 […]

365 Project : Day 210

**I have been working almost all night to get my wordpress running 🙁 had some problems and have to migrate all the contents including the database to a new location 🙁 Anyway… I know it’s been a while since my last post.   Anyway, I’m back 🙂 I went back to the Abandoned Village in Ras Al Khaimah, now that the weather is good and the clouds are back, it’s really an awesome place to shoot.  It is really a ghost […]

365 Project : Day 157

There is something about this place…  Makes me think how it was before.  I can’t find any documented article about this abandoned place in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, as to how it was before, anyway, this is how it looks today. Gear: Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f9.0 | 1/15 | ISO 100 Post process: Combined 3 exposures (DRI’d) Dodging and burning Selective curves adjustments Added Vibrance and a light vignette See yah! /Mike

365 Project : Day 132

Trying out textures again with one of my favorite places to shoot, the abandoned village in Ras Al Khaimah. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/15 | ISO 100 Post process: Combined 3 exposures (DRI) Dodging and burning Applied some perspective correction and crop the image Applied the rough texture Applied the broken texture Applied sharpening What d’ya know, weekend is coming! /Mike

365 Project : Day 087

Again, taken from Ras Al Khaimah.  I wish I knew what this structure is, I really have no idea.  All I know is that looking at it makes you think and forces you to create your own story behind it. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings:  f8.0 | 1/40 | ISO 100 Post processing: Enhanced the sky to give a more dramatic feel Dodging and burning Applied selective color balance Adjusted contrast using blending modes Happy shooting! /Mike

365 Project : Day 085

I love sunsets, in fact in terms of photography, I like it more than sunrise.  Because during the sunset, it gives a great golden color far longer than sunrise and right after sunset, the there comes the blue hour that later on turns to a magenta sky.  Sunset gives you 3 colors of the sky in the span of more than an hour.  Which gives you plenty of time to shoot and compose your shots.   That’s my opinion at least. […]

365 Project : Day 083

This house provokes a lot of thoughts and feelings, it makes me want to know the real story behind it… the history that surrounds this place… Anyway, I just wanted to share another one of the ruined houses at Ras Al Khaimah ghost town. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20 Settings: f9.0 | 1/50 | ISO 100 Post processing: Dodging and burning to get the feel that I want Enhanced the sky to add more mood to the picture Made […]

365 Project Day : 080

Still on the abandoned place in Ras Al Khaimah, this looks to be an old water well.  These kind of places make me think if the future will look like this, when everything dries out… Well, I hope I won’t see that day.  Anyway, I wanted to replicate the dramatic feel of the place… Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20 Settings: f11.0 | 1/80 | ISO 100 Post processing: Added some drama in the sky via dodge and burn and […]

365 Project : Day 079

I wanted to portray how “cold” the place was, I am not referring to the temperature, I am referring to the ‘feel’ that this place gave me.  Nobody lives in this part of Ras Al Khaimah anymore, I don’t exactly know what happened here… I like how the light shines from the sky, it gives me a feeling of hope for this place. OK, enough drama.  Need to hit the bed now 🙂 Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: […]

365 Project : Day 075

This is a “breath taking” shot…  Like literally! This place was one of the stinkiest place I have ever been.  I have to hold my breath and shoot.   But, in the picture, I have to say, it smells pretty darn good 🙂  Places like this are always good to shot, simply because they are interesting and they are in a very good location. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10mm Settings: f11  | 1/100 | ISO 100 Post processing: Selective contrast […]
