365 Project : Day 085

I love sunsets, in fact in terms of photography, I like it more than sunrise.  Because during the sunset, it gives a great golden color far longer than sunrise and right after sunset, the there comes the blue hour that later on turns to a magenta sky.  Sunset gives you 3 colors of the sky in the span of more than an hour.  Which gives you plenty of time to shoot and compose your shots.   That’s my opinion at least. […]

365 Project : Day 084

This was taken inside the Dubai Metro, gold class seat 🙂 yes, there’s gold, silver and bronze (the bronze one… I’m not that sure); Me and friend Jason took the Dubai Metro just for fun and also, to take pictures.  The building on the right is the Dnata building, which is government owned and part of the Emirates Airlines group. I think there is a slight color cast because of the glass window of the train, but I guess it […]

365 Project : Day 083

This house provokes a lot of thoughts and feelings, it makes me want to know the real story behind it… the history that surrounds this place… Anyway, I just wanted to share another one of the ruined houses at Ras Al Khaimah ghost town. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20 Settings: f9.0 | 1/50 | ISO 100 Post processing: Dodging and burning to get the feel that I want Enhanced the sky to add more mood to the picture Made […]

365 Project : Day 082

This was taken at Ibn Batuta Mall.  This is the only themed mall here in the UAE.  The mall, honored the travels of the traveler Ibn Batuta.  Anyway, this part was in the China Court area.  Big boat in a fountain inside a mall?  Yeah, that’s Dubai I guess. Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10mm f2.8 Settings: f5.0 | 1/15 | ISO 640 Post processing: A little bit of dodging and burning Adjusted contrast and saturation Added a light vignette […]

365 Project : Day 081

As far as I know, this is a floating restaurant.   This boat is just opposite the Barasti Bar.   Not much story to tell here, since I’ve never been inside that boat, maybe next time 🙂 Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 24-70 f2.8 HSM Settings: f4.0 | 0.4 | ISO 800 Post processing: Dodging and burning on some areas Increased contrast Cheers! /Mike

365 Project Day : 080

Still on the abandoned place in Ras Al Khaimah, this looks to be an old water well.  These kind of places make me think if the future will look like this, when everything dries out… Well, I hope I won’t see that day.  Anyway, I wanted to replicate the dramatic feel of the place… Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20 Settings: f11.0 | 1/80 | ISO 100 Post processing: Added some drama in the sky via dodge and burn and […]

365 Project : Day 079

I wanted to portray how “cold” the place was, I am not referring to the temperature, I am referring to the ‘feel’ that this place gave me.  Nobody lives in this part of Ras Al Khaimah anymore, I don’t exactly know what happened here… I like how the light shines from the sky, it gives me a feeling of hope for this place. OK, enough drama.  Need to hit the bed now 🙂 Gear:  Canon 7D + Sigma 10-20mm Settings: […]

365 Project : Day 078

Taken with my point and shoot camera, Lumix LX3.  I haven’t used  this cam for quite a while now, but, whenever I needed its service, it never let me down 🙂 Taken around 3am today, after partying at The Rooftop Bar at Madinat Jumeirah.  On this picture it is on the left side, on the roof top of the closed bar called Trilogy.  Took this on the way to the parking area which is across the road. Gear: Lumix LX3 […]

365 Project : Day 077

Today, I wanted to try a cross processed look.  Mixture of green and yellow.  This was taken at Dubai International Finance Center (DIFC). Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Settings: f8.0 | 1/160 | ISO100 Post Processing: Dodged and burned Adjusted contrast and saturation Applied two color filters, green and yellow then blended it together Ye’y its weekend! /Mike

365 Project : Day 076

This is going to be quick, since I am posting this from Second Cup coffee shop here in Bur Dubai.  I just got this shot a few minutes ago from Heritage Village.  It looks liked an old unfinished boat or could also probably be a wrecked boat, I am not sure. Just a quick shot as well, since I don’t want to get too much attention from the people around the place, since I am using a tripod. Anyway, here’s […]
