365 Project : Day 065

Today is day 65 of my 365 🙂  Now, I have exactly 300 days to go! On my 365, I have lit a lot of things, lemon, shoes, smoke, water, flowers… etc.  But I didn’t have a lot of people as my subject.  Lighting is really critical and the thing about lighting is that, you need different approaches for different subjects.  In my experience, it’s not an exact science, there is no single formula that will work with anything in […]

365 Project : Day 049

Today, another set of Indian dancers performed.  Their attention to details and colors when it comes to their clothing are really amazing, quite intricate and very catchy 🙂 Gear: Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC @270mm Settings: f8.0 | 1/400 | ISO 320 Post processing: Applied selective sharpening Applied some blending modes Applied texture to create that artistic ambiance that matches the performers and their culture This week just flew by me… Again, its weekend! Take care everyone! /Mike

365 Project : Day 048

Today, there are some Indian dancers performing near our office building.  Just couldn’t resist to click 🙂  The colors of their outfits need to be captured. As you can see, this is just a casual snap, available light during  its worst time at 1pm, so harsh lights everywhere.  I used spot metering to expose their skin tone properly. Gear:  Canon 7D + Tamron 18-270mm VC Settings: f8.0 | 1/500 | ISO 500 @270mm Post process: I did a 16:9 crop […]

365 Project : Day 039

They say 365 Project is about taking risks, I’ve read that a couple of times somewhere…  And I think, that’s 100% correct.  If I shoot landscape and architecture shots all the time, I am completely negating the purpose of the 365 project, which is about learning, discovery and creativity.  I need to step away of my comfort zone and try something new.  This is me taking another risk.  Well, I have been most of the time, since I started this […]

365 Project : Day 012

This is me while having lunch… Sitting on a bench in front of the lake.  Today I had a subway veggie delight 🙂  Weather is really good lately in Dubai.   Very relaxing and calming… Anyway, decided to put the LX3 on the ground and take a shot; this is probably an ant’s perspective… or any insect on the ground for that matter 😀 How I took it?  Here you go: Gear: Lumix LX3 Settings: f4.0 | 1/640 | Dynamic Scene […]

Project 365 : Day 010

Today our company hosted a karting event for employees.  I enjoyed it a lot! This is me with my grudged helmet & racing suit (it’s quite smelly and itchy) but who cares! karting is cool! I took literally 3 shots and 2 of them are blurred… Luckily I decided to take a “stig” shot 🙂 How I took it: Gear: Lumix LX3 Settings : f2.0 | 0.5 | ISO 400 | Dynamic Scene Mode Post processing: A little dodge & […]

365 Project : Day 006

As much as I hate to see my face on pictures…  Sometimes we have to let creativity do its thing 🙂 (blame creativity!). This is me driving to work…  This is actually a Top Gear inspired angle 😀  A different perspective. Actually, this was taken on my way to the parking (hoping that I’ll get a good spot!). Gear: Lumix LX3 Settings: f2.0 | 1/320 | RAW file Post processing: Adjusted levels in Photoshop CS4 Little dodging and burning and […]

My photo walk buddies | HDR Portraits

I’m back from a short 2 weeks vacation from the Philippines. During my stay, it was hard to find time to shoot.  There’s just tons of things to do back home, not to mention that I was paranoid about the security issues of walking on the streets with a DSLR camera by myself.  Well, maybe it’s just all in my head but, better to be safe than sorry.  I mean, we all know Christmas season is just around the corner […]
