365 Project : Day 022

I confess, this was a last minute shot.  It’s weekend here and this idea just came out of no where.   So, I got my speedlite 580exii and attached the Lumiquest softbox III, slid the wireless phottix transceiver on to the flash and popped my trusty lumix LX3 together with the phottix transmitter.  Went straight to the sink and with an improvised background and there you go! Day 22! Here’s the rest of the technical yada yada.. Gear: Lumix LX3 + […]

365 Project : Day 021

After more than a week of waiting from ebay… it finally came!  Spyder3 Pro Display Calibrator.  The concept behind this is that, I want to give a colorful background since it is after all a color calibrator, but then I wanted to have the white balance correct by making the fonts white, simply because they are in fact white. And if you are wondering where I took this shot, well, it’s inside our washing machine! Really, I’m not kidding!  Now […]

365 Project : Day 020

This is the Deira City Center Metro Station.  I took this right after I purchased my new lens 🙂  Tokina 11-16 f2.8.  This is the first photo from this lens (apart from my testing shots from the store). I haven’t been inside the Dubai Metro, I’m planning to go soon though.  It is only a few months old… Anyway, here is how I took this shot: Gear: Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Settings: f2.8 | 1/30 + 1/20 -1EV  […]

Project 365 : Day 019

This is the food court in our building (at work).  It’s been six years that I have been in this building and they have renovated this 3 times — it always looks good.  I really am going to miss this place once we moved out.  This is how it looks at around 5:30pm, it’s almost empty. For some strange reason this picture reminds me of Christmas, maybe the colors? The lights that look like xmas lights? Hmmm could also be […]

365 Project : Day 018

This is one of the most useful things in my workflow.  It was a gift from my birthday last year… oh man, that’s almost a year now… Grrr! Anyway, moving on… Here is how I took it: Gear: Canon 7D + 50mm 1.8 + 430exii + 580exii Settings: f7.1 | 1/160 | ISO 250 Strobist info: 580exii + umbrella on the left @24mm, 1/32 power 430exii + red gel @105, 1/64 power Triggered by built in Flash Transmitter of Canon […]

365 Project : Day 017

Inspiration… This is the reason why I purchased this book. Joe McNally is one of the photographers I really look up to.  He’s done it all… in other words, he’s the man! Ok, I guess I have some reading to do over the weekend 🙂 How I took it: Gear: Canon 7D + 50mm 1.8 + 580exii + 430exii Settings: f8.0 | 1/250 | ISO 400 Strobist info: 580exii + umbrella on top left 430exii + red gell zoomed at […]

365 Project : Day 016

This is Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on Earth.  Together with the world’s tallest dancing fountain. I decided to go back there and shoot the Burj at night since I’m getting a lot of hits from the day version, which can be found here. I, like many others, was surprised when it was named Burj Khalifa since everyone is already used to calling it Burj Dubai.  Anyway, it’s their building so they can name it whatever they want to.   I […]

365 Project : Day 015

How come when you purchase using your credit card, you feel like you didn’t spend at all…  Until the bill arrives of course.  Then you faint. Sometimes I wish I could throw my credit cards and never use them ever again.  This thought was the inspiration of this picture.  Anyway, we got to do what we got to do… How I took it: Gear: Lumix LX3 Settings: f2.0 | 1/5 | ISO400 | Dynamic Scene Mode | Square format 1:1 […]

365 Project : Day 014

Ideas… crazy it may be, sometimes we should just give it a try. This is our brand new gas range.  The oven is yet to be used, so before it gets greasy in there, I decided to put my LX3 to the grilling pit :).  Now we know how it looked like inside an oven, oh man… poor chicken. Anyway, it’s weekend! If you want to get crazy, this is it! How I took it : Gear: Lumix LX3, I […]

365 Project : Day 013

To think that this is all desert before…  it’s quite nice here now. I like to shoot as much as I can with this place because in less than 2 months from now, our office will be relocated in the middle of nowhere.  That place will have a lot of sand, dust and nothingness.  Wow, I’m so excited!  So, here I am trying to capture the place where I have been working for 6 years.  I never appreciated its beauty […]
